Cold and flu remedies

Aconite

As soon as you feel a cold coming on take this first. This remedy is to be taken one ball at 30c. This invokes a healing response. So many people have said that this has worked absolute magic.


Arsenicum


For the person worse around midnight, burning discharges, they may sneeze repeatedly, they may have an irritable cough, feel chilly, better for hot drinks which they sip, they can feel very anxious like they will never get better, they may be the victim of frequent colds, their chest may hurt, their throat is sore their head feels hot but their body feels cold.


Ferrum Phos

Great to be taken after aconite if there was no relief still in the early stages of colds and flu. The patient may experience fever, inflammation nosebleeds during this period. Ferrum Phos is a great remedy to aid relief. Also great for fevers with earaches.


Nux vomica


For the person who has a high fever, extremely chilly, may feel nauseous, may have cramping in their digestive system. Possibly a discomforting cough. They are very sensitive to noises, sounds, smells and may be very irritable, feeling worse for movement, or worse from the cold. A great remedy for "Man flu"



Euphrasia


Patient may have eye symptoms with the flu, they could possibly be watering, irritated and red. Conjunctivitis or sinusitis may also be present. This is for the patient that has a constant sneeze, the patient may also have mucus in the throat which may cause a cough. Euphrasia patients may feel better for lying down and food.


Gelsemium


Is for the flu symptoms that make you feel weak and you need something to lean on, the child that leans on the mothers leg, or feels floppy from illness, they feel lethargic, even their eye lids are droopy. They may have the shakes or be trembling.


Pulsatilla


A great remedy for thick green/yellow nasal discharges which are better at night because their nose is dry and the discharges will repeat the next day. The ir may be earche worse at night. The nose may be blocked indoors but run outside. A great remedy for children who are unwell and very clingy. The symptoms may be changeable. For the persin who feels weepy and better for comfort. May also suffer from a loss of taste and smell. A thirstless patient.


Merc Sol


For the patient that may have bad breath as a result of the flu. Their lymph nodes are swollen. The patient may sweat a lot at night, be sensitive to temperature changes, may sweat excessively at night. Indicated when the tonsils become infected, ears may also become infected, and their nose feels red raw, and the symptoms may pass to the ear and nose. In cases of strep throat, the throat is sore, and the pain extends to the ear.


Phosphorus


For the person with flu symptoms with a fever, a face that may go red easily. Phosphorus has an affinity for the lungs, so they may their voice may be hoarse, have a cough and a sore throat. Phosphorus as remedy is a very anxious remedy, that likes company and being reassured. They may desire ice cold water with a strong thirst and if they bring the fluids back up after it goes into their belly, phosphorus is the remedy you are looking for. Also great for a cough that aggravates the left side of the body.


Sulphur


Is for the soul who has not taken care of themselves very well. They are sensitive to heat because it aggravates their symptoms. May be worse after taking a bath, their symptoms may have been long lasting and have been present for a while. They may feel like their respiratory tract is burning, the patient may be hot and sweat a lot and may have a low fever.


Bryonia


Is another great flu remedy, with symptoms that are slowly progressive. The patient may have a cough, worse left side, worse motion, thirstier than normal. Dry lips, a high fever without sweating alternating with chilliness with a shiver. The patient may have a very dry hacking cough without releasing, may also have a bad headache and body aches. Better for lying down, better for lying on their painful side.


Belladonna


Is another great flu remedy, which offers relief from a high temperature, the patient may be sweating excessively, they may also be sensitive to light and noise. This is one of the main remedies for strep throat, where the symptoms are of a dry condition in the throat, their throat may feel hot. The tonsils are inflamed. The patient may feel a lump in the throat.


Eupatorium



A great remedy for pains felt in the bones, and their body is aching from the flu and colds that feel unbearable.


Oscillococcinum


Is a remedy that may add relief to flu like symptoms, the patient may feel chilly with a fever, feeling generally run down and their whole body aches.

Colds and catarrh


Used for catarrh of upper respiratory tract, especially chronic tenacious mucus, useful for asthmatic conditions with complications from excessive mucus

Respiratory


Supports the normal pulmonary ventilation. Assists lungs, respiratory tract, asthma, bronchitis, eustachian tubes and sinuses.


Expectorant for coughing.


Helps to sooth irritable and persistent coughing causing hoarseness.

Essential Oils - Tea tree Oil which is anti microbial, anti bacterial, anti viral, blends well with chamomile which is calming and helps relieve cold and flu symptoms. If you do not like tea tree why not try eucalyptus which fights viruses and reduces fevers, inhibits bacteria and fights infection? I like to use mine in old fashion essential oil burners, with water at the top and a few drops of my chosen oil. So calming and smells wonderful, lifts the mood and really helps your body to heal in conjunction with other healing modalities.
